Hello from France

Bonjour,

I'm from south of France close to Aix en Provence. I have a red Caponord 1200 TP with now 3000km an few little problems as many of you but I still really this bike. This is my third Aprilia so I'm used to these annoyances.

Caponord little issues

I had the infamous red warning light / EFI after less than 1000km but it was solved after a visit to the Aprilia dealer. Now, after 3000km, the fuel indicator shows only one bar even with a full tank. It should be repaired under warranty but Aprilia has not sent the parts yet.
I had the resonator installed the ECU remapped (FC35). The bike runs very well and smoothly from 2500rpm.

014 Capo down under

G'day jmsarat! Something you may have already done - change the front sprocket to a 16 tooth (from 17) to bring the gearing back to normal (or a 44/45 tooth rear sprocket as others have done). I'm very happy with the change to 16t. Also, Aussie Capo's have an 8% speedo error, so I assume your speedo tells lies too (ie; 100k/hr is 108 on speedo).
Bonsoir from Australia

Bonjour Brisbanord,

I installed a 44 tooth rear sprocket as the chain was a bit too long with the 16 teeth front sprocket. This also shorten the wheelbase and makes the bike easier on twisty roads (I live in South-east of France) . The speedo is indeed opimistic but the sprocket change doesn't modify this as the speed is calculated by the ABS unit from the ABS speed sensor.

Question Optomistic Speedo - 8% on 014 Touring 1200

Aha...as I suspected, when the slack Aprilia engineers changed the OEM spec tyre size from 190/55 to 180/55 after the first model 2013, they must'nt have adjusted the ABS to the smaller OD tyre! So I wonder if fitting a 190/55 would correct the speedo without affecting handling? mmmmmmm someone, somewhere must have been tempted to put the big tyre on?
