dashboard screen cracks

i have just collected my capo from its 20000km service by the end of the trip back 70km a large crack has appeared across the dash ( instrument screen )
i've contacted the agent who states this is a problem with capos that occurs 'without shock or human error' and they are not responsible ! the screen cant be replaced separately and a new unit is over 290 , anyone else come across this problem before i commence battle.

It is possible. Thermoplastics are known to expontaneously self destroy, cracking shattering sometimes mini exploding. Has to do with the molecular structure and the quemicals used during production. The causes are many. Sudden temp changes, exposure to uv rays, quemicals used for cleaning or picked up on the road, or my GF sitting on it....lol.
Find yourself an electronic broken unit in eBay and replace the plastic. Or if you are savi or creative get a pieces of thermoplastic, make a mold out of wood and heat form it....I've done it before and it works just fine. good luck

G'day malindingo from Aus.

I clocked up 39,000kms on my Capo12 before defecting to KTM - no dash cracking issues on the Capo12 but my KTM dash cracked mid 2017 and they replaced the whole dash under warranty.

I don't have the extreme cold/heat ranges you might experience, but I'd suggest checking the dash has been installed correctly (ie, has some rubber mounted flex - not overtightened etc). It may have been removed during the service for some reason. Did you get heated grips installed? If so then the dealer may have some responsibility as it hadn't cracked prior to the service (I assume).

I'm not sure why my KTM dash cracked....... most likely as aceves posted, as mine started with a small crack that I thought was a scratch until it grew larger .

In any case the manufacturer honored the warranty and didn't argue .

Not sure how Aprilia will respond - hopefully they will be more helpful than Aprilia Aus.

Cheers from Australia and hope you find a solution.

That's a pissa! I'd be going to battle also. Hard to believe a reputable manufacturer would not replace that an RETAIN a customer. Especially when they know it's a recurring problem.
